I'm considerinng going out and buying this now for a good old read. I've never bought it before for some rreason though meant to lots of times. I know Nick Mordin and Matt Chapman have columns in it so there a nice range of opinions by the sounds of things.

    Any one recommend it?
How much does it cost and is it worth it?

I would wait and just buy tomorrows racing post. There are not enough columns. Also you get race previews where significant non runners not included. I've bought it few times and would pass.

Anyone serious about racing should be buying this. I dont all the time, but try my best. Find it more useful for the flat to be fair.

The weekender is great - plenty of analysis and news. It's going to merge with Raceform Update very soon.

The Irish Field is your only man.

Along with the weekender, there is also Racing and Football outlook (RFO) and another weekly betting paper who'se name escapes me.

I forget which one Dave Nevison writes for, could be the latter.

I was in Easons and they say the Weekender is out tomorrow but RFO was there but its €3 and wasn't bothered with it this week. Dave Nevison writes in that though.

Yeah Nevo writes for the RFO. It's a good read - a good mix of football betting and racing.

The Weekender isn't too bad, a bit pricey, though. It comes out on Wednesday, but for some reason only makes it here on Thursday. Have to agree with the above poster, saying The Irish Field is your only man. I have read all sorts of mags and papers on any number of subjects, but I think this is the most professionally produced, informative and least parochial paper published in Ireland.

I've bought this every week since I started this thread. Great buy. Some weeks it can be slow of course but theres always something worth reading in it. Now with added Raceform.

Matt Chapman got the axe though and Simon Holt is in.
