    Hi,

I had my traditional train-track braces removed about 10 years ago. When they where taken off my teeth where perfectly straight. However, I wasn’t given a retainer to wear, so now 10 years later my teeth have pushed forward a fair bit. There not terrible, but its something I’m aware of and would like to fix.

I’m going to make an appointment with an orthodontist but just out of curiosity how much does it cost for: train track, Invisalign, and theInman Aligner.

Obviously my orthodontist will advise me what is best, but having read about Inman Aligner online I sound like the perfect candidate. I’ve no overlapping, crowding…my teeth have just pushed out, if ya know what I mean. :)

    Thank you.

Oh and if its an against the rules of this section to post info like that, Please PM me instead, Thank you

    Hi Alexa

you should have a number of option to ahve the orthodontic treatment redone. You say that your orthodontist will give you the options and that is the best way to go.

I would be surprised if any orthodontist uses an Inman aligner but approximate costs for upper and lower treatment with Invisalign would be €5000 and about €4000 for traintracks.

This will vary depending on the orthodontist and the duration and complexity of the treatment. It is not possible to say how complex your treatment would be without seeing you but the best place to start would be with an orthodontist, try www.orthodontics.ie

    Good luck

Just visited a dentist in Baldoyle this morning and I had a very interesting conversation with him. He said there is value out there if you shop around. He reckons there is no value in traveling up North anymore as Irish dentists have to be far more competitive now. He says labs in Europe are supplying products for the dental industry that would originally have to come in from the US. I was quoted £1,250 for invisible train tracks two weeks ago in Belfast. I orginally go my bottom set done up there 4 years ago and got great value as Iwas been quoted €5000 in the republic and told there was no price reduction as I only wanted the bottom set done-told it still took the same time. Also I remember being told dentist's in the North were not the same calibre as in the republic-total hogwash. I went up North and saved a fortune. The dentist this morning said at that time dentist's were arrogance and the market has changed hugely now. He recommended clear aligners for my top set as there is very little movement and he reckons I am an ideal canditate. He says hopefully no more than 4 aligner over a period of 4 months at €120 each. Aligners coming in from Colonge- I signed up straight away and can't believe I was perpared to travel up North again for god knows how long and they did not suggest aligners. The effort and time I would have had to put in if I had went ahead. How times have changed.

    Hey guys,

have been given a quote by my orthodontist and now he says ill probably need two fillings and am going to be getting two teeth out. However, this is all EXTRA on top of the braces and its another dentist in the clinic who is going to do my fillings and pull the teeth. is this the norm where I really do have to pay extra on top of my quote for all this preparation work for the braces??

bit confused and realising its gonna be more expensive than i originally thought.

    sad face!!!boo!!!

I had one experience (just thought of sharing it) where my dentist use 'UV rays' for the adhesive. And just after 6 months, my teeth are perfectly straight. But it isn't firm. i think it's gonna go back to it's actual position before i had braces.

This is standard, I had the same. Don't feel obliged to get the work done in the same practice though. You can look around for another dentist to do the fillings and extractions.

Hi just got my invisalign this morning for my top teeth. The cost will be €1,200. Will let you know how I get on. It took 2 months for the 6 retainers to come back and they will be changed every three weeks.

Hi, just wondering if anyone had any advice in relation to invisalign. I didn't think my teeth would be a huge issue to fix and I was really only interested in fixing my top teeth - its really one tooth in particular that needs moved slightly, the rest are near enough perfect. I understood the whole set would need to be looked at but after a consultation I was told I would need both top and bottom looked at the process would cost around 4,500. This was a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. At this point I have only had one consultation in one clinic. Has anyone had a similar experience, are they just trying to squeeze more money out of me or can anyone recommend anywhere more competitively priced?

    thanks
