Hi am just doing my beef project for ag science and need a few approximations on weights of:
    1. Weanlings at housing first winter? (250kg-300??)
    2. Yearlings at turnout after 1st winter? (350kg plus?)
    3. Nov 1st heading into secong winter? (450-500kg?)
    4. Slaughter weight at 24 months?
    Thanks for the help ;)

Also what is the slaughter weight of a bull slaughtered at 19/20 months?

    Hi Iano

These weights will vary depending on the breed of cattle and whether they are suckled or reared artifically. Your weights would be ok for sucklers, that were not pushed very hard with meal. Bulls slaughtered at 18-20 months would be about 6-700 kg. But again this depends on breed etc. Hope this helps.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Ya thanks blue5000 i only just need a rough idea anyway so if these were weanlings that were pushed on meal they could be up at 300-350 at housing? And one more question so you normally dose for fluke around 4 weeks after housing?
Do u dose for worms and if so when?

Normally dosed for worms on the day of housing, but if under pressure for time that day, they would get fluke and worm dose together about a week after housing. Dosing for fluke 1 week after housing has to be done with a fluke dose effective against early immature fluke. Spring born sucklers would get a dose for hoose, and stomach worms 3, or perhaps 4 times during the summer as well, starting mid June (depends on the year).

Ya 3-350 would be a good av wt for spring born weanlings going in.
