Car Hire Firms in Ireland

    Hi,

Recommendations for car hire firms in Ireland for May 25 - June 27 2011. Looking for an automatic 4/5 door please. Checked loads of the main sites yesterday (budget, hertz, sixt etc etc) but most of them don't quote for hires over 28 days or "have no vehicles in stock" for the dates selected. Pick up and return Dublin Airport.

    Thanks

I'd say "auto" will cost big bucks here in Ireland as it will probably mean renting out the top range model.

    Hi OP

These guys are good, used for 28 day rental myself.

    http://www.enterprise.ie/car_rental/home.do

    or

http://www.carhire3000.ie (this is a broker, so you could get any rental company, they are based in the UK not that it really matters but)

I have used both myself and they are good and probably the cheapest

You cannot rent over 28 days for tax reasons (I tried before so i know). What you have to do is rent from the 25th May til the 20th of June or something. You then have to wait 24h until you can pick up your next car so take a day when you can be without a car and maybe spend a night in Dublin, get a lift home or something. Bit awkward but that is how it works.

As an aside what MIGHT work out cheaper for you (I don't have time to check) is if you book a car from 25th - 30th May and then get the 2nd rental from 1st June start of the month. If i remember correctly, most companies charge more for rentals running from mid-mid month.

I once had a car for 46 consecutive days from Enterprise.
Now i have to say these were extensions of 1 week every time.
if i would be looking to rent for such a period i would indeed go to Enterprise again, they do have amazing offers at times.
Above 46 days i had an Astra diesel for 13 euro a day.

You'll need to speak to the long term hire sections - there are different rules for under 28 day rentals and over 28 day rentals. Different VAT rates and whether or not a car that's had the VRT deffered can be used.

The number for Enterprise long term is listed on their website, for Avis long term give Avis Kilmainham a call on 01 605 7500.

For Hertz you'll need to speak to the head office in Wexford - number should be on their Website.
