Does look too late. He's going for the 100m and 200m free. If he qualifies, and that's a big if, the fields for those two events are very competitive and it's been 4 years since he's retired.

I don't think it's a bad decision either way. If he fails he fails.

I believe so. He does a lot of good stuff charity wise etc, does seem to have an ego that is pulling him back, prob was really hurting him doing commentary and thinking he could be out there. Good luck to him but he's sadly too old.

Anything can happen in the 100. It's one start and one turn.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was able to qualify, and then anything can happen on the day.

Should be an interesting story to follow.

Didn't he put on a lot of weight when he retired? Its only a year to the olympics and he is older now, will that be enough time to get him back into shape. Even if he does get in shape, is he too old?

He weighs well over 90kg now I read. That's after losing some weight too. He could probably eat Park Tae Hwan.

The age thing is interesting alright. One one side you would think that it's too late but on the other side he's just off the back of 4 years out(he is back training since september), and that is lots of time for his body to have refreshed and recovered. He only needs one good injury free year and he'll be grand.

Never underestimate the Thorpedo. A definate medallist next year for sure.

In similar news Dara Torres is aiming to get to London....mad spoon.
