Hey guys i am new here, i have mild pronation and am looking for new runners. I am currently looking to hopefully complete the Cork marathon. I usually run in Nike Darts. Can someone recommend good runners to suit my needs?

Hi there, best get yourself to a specialist running shop and get gait analysis. However, if there's no such shop near you, just the run of the mill sports shops, you can't go too far wrong with a pair of Asics Kayanos. They're quite a heavy runner but very good for distance training.

+1 on the recommendation of getting gait analysis done to ascertain the level of over-pronation you have.

-1 on the recommendation to just go with a pair of Kayanos.

I recently had my analysis done, and there is a wide variance in the level of support provided by each manufacturers range of shoes, from neutral to light support all the way to heavily supported shoes.
The Kayanos fall into the last bracket, and if you only have very mild over-pronation, this is not the shoe for you. This is where getting the advice and trying out various runners in-store will help you decide whats best for you, rather than a broad recommendation.

Let us know whereabouts in the country you are and then someone can recommend a nearby place for analysis.

Depends how 'mild' your pronation is. Is this self diagnosed or by a specialist?

If you are really only a very mild pronator, you could get away with something like a Nike Lunarglide especially since your used to the fit and feel of Nikes.

However is you are not sure to the extent of your pronation it is better to get it tested in a specialist running shop first.

I agree about getting your Gait analysed before making a decision , especially considering you are looking at training for a marathon.

However, recommending the Asics Kayano is potentially a wrong move. The asics kayano is designed for severe over pronators who require a lot of support. There are plenty of long distance supportive runners for mild over pronators available. A lot of people believe the Gel Kayano is the best shoe out there, this may be the case but only if it is suited to your gait type.

Get it checked out by someone who knows what they are talking about and go from there.

Stay away from kayanos or most asics. Go for the lunar glide or something lower to the ground.
