The reason I didn't go with laptopsdirect when I got my last laptop was due to the very mixed reviews it got on here. Do a search and you'll see. Obviously some people had no problems with them but there's too many bad reviews on them for me personally.

    In relation to Laptops Direct...
I tried to buy a hp laptop off them before and would never go near them again. They were recommended to me by a friend who had no problems with them, then again he never had to use their after care service.

The laptop I ordered was in stock on the website, they took my money, I thought all was good. I waited a week but heard nothing. I contacted them to check to see if it was sent out and the the person on the phone said it was ready to send out but that I had to call some other department to arrange delivery details. Given the fact they didn't bother to let me know before I called them I found their customer service to be very rude and completely unhelpful.

It took a another day with a lot of back and forth and eventually got through to someone to arrange delivery options and the person said that the laptop was out of stock. I asked when he would have it back in, they couldn't answer when and the guy asked if I would like a refund which at the time I thought was a dumb question. It took another month and had to chase them up to get my money back. The weird thing was while this was going on the laptop was re-listed on the site as back in stock.

So over all, a complete waste of time, hard to contact, and when I did contact them they were next to useless. I did get my money back but it took over a month. It really annoyed me that they took payment on day 1 even though they didn't have the laptop in stock and how they dragged their heals giving me a refund. I would stay well clear of them.

I bought a refurbished Toshiba off them in late 09 and it turned out to be faulty on arrival.

Going by the threads here, I was expecting terrible hassle getting it sent back, but actually they arranged for a courier to pick it up, they arrived pretty much the next business day iirc and I got a refund about a week later.
