Don't think they check the horn.

Why don't you get it fixed? It might be something simple like a blown fuse.

    Lol

On topic, yes it will fail
    Read the manual

yeah, they check it..one of the first things they do along with checking the wipers in all modes. That failed me the last time..raging! Ya never know, you could be lucky

Show's how bad my attention span is, don't remember ever hearing a horn at a testing centre.

They tend to do it (in any centre I've been in) when they're driving the car in from outside. It's almost like they're beeping to get the shutter door to open.

Ah jesus - that confirms it so.... thanks for that...

re fixing it, well I want to the doctor and she gave me three tablets and the horn was working for a while... :D

no, went to advance pitstop and they said they couldn't fix it... wierd eh?

On most modern cars the horn is an absolute pig to get at. This is because of avalanche laws in central Europe. It is easy to build all the cars the same than to fit one off parts for Switzerland!

Often it is easier to find the wires for the horn, cut them and mount a new horn elsewhere to those wires.

I'd nearly feel safer driving without a seatbelt than without a horn.

Ha! In all the times I've been to the NCT centres, I've never seen (or heard should I say) them testing the horn!

And why do you think they just kinda beep some as they go around the corner into the test area? its part of the test and you must have been just lucky to pass if its not working.

You know you don't have wait for the NCT to fix stuff. Or not fix stuff because it is not part of the NCT.

Item number 8 page 20 nct manual

    Horn method of testing
1 check the security of the horn and horn controle
2 operate the horn controls and note that the horn sounds correctly

    reasons for failure
    1 controls insecure
    2 horn insecurely mounted
    3 not working correctly
4 not working or not fitted

By any chance do you have an airbag warning light too ?
I had an airbag warning light and my car horn went.

It was the spiral cable in the steering wheel, and advance pitstop didn't want to touch the airbag system with a bargepole.

I ended up getting the spiral cable replaced by a polish mechanic working from his home. (he had the proper Toyota connector for the old non-obd port diagnostics kit)
