I currently have an iphone 4 and looking to move to meteor. Has anyone experienced any problems. Main things Im looing for are good coverage both phone and 3g and also tether my phone to the laptop is there any issues doing this on the metoer network. Can i use my data allowance or will i be charged extra for this.

Seconded, + they dont charge extra for tethering. You can use your monthly data allowance.

me too- it's faster than my wifi at home
the smart plan for 30€ incl. 1 Gig seems good value

I have to agree here, sometimes mine is really fast. I have the 250gb addon and use Joikuspot on my E72 to connect the iPad. Pretty sweet tbh.

Meteor are using H technology in Dublin, especially around my area.

That gets speeds up to like 24mbs afaik

Super fast when I'm on it around Swords or dublin in general

I'm with meteor on their special offer €40 plan, 400mins,400texts and 2gb of data!

    Couldn't be happier!

Always have full signal where with o2, I was struggling to get 2 bars in my bedroom.

I'm the same, I've been on Meteor for the last 3 years in iphones and I've no bother, plenty of 3g and it's quite fast!

I've recently come out of my contract and the meteor sim only plans look much cheaper for me.

Just wondering where people got their phones unblocked safely? How much would it cost?

if coming from an O2 or vodafone or 3 contract then the network will unlock them for you free of charge. others like myself bought factory unlocked units directly fom Apple.

I apologise if im in the wrong forums and threads.
iv tried a little search. nothing too big.

maybe someone here could answer my questions.

I would love to buy an Iphone and have it on the Meteor network (pay as you go)

im aware that it needs to be unlocked or "sim-free"
im also aware that some networks have micro-sims

    so here are my questions
1.Can an iphone be on the meteor network (PAYG)
and if so is it a simple "sim into back of phone" or does it have to be programmed.

2.If above question is true. Are the Iphones on the Apple website Sim-free.

    3.Is an iphone worth it?

Thank you very much for your time
i realise that i may be asking stupid questions but i would like to get everything right before i splash 499-599 quid on something that wont work properly.

P.S if there is anything more that i should know please feel free to tell me.

    Thank you.

Yes, it is as simple- just ask for a voice microsim in the store

2.If above question is true. Are the Iphones on the Apple website Sim-free.

    plain Yes

    3.Is an iphone worth it?

there is no other user experience- if you can afford it.
If you go android with a htc desire 2 or samsung galaxy 2 you get the same functions for roughly 400€ - without the 'wow' factor

    .

I'll keep doing a bit of looking up, but it's looking very promising.

Yea just buy the iPhone directly from apple.ie and it'll be unlocked forever and there'll be no need to worry about upgrading ever again.

Once you get a microsim from a meteor store it's just plug and play once you enter your data settings!

Data Settings, Do you mean MMS settings?
    or is this something new?

They all come under "Data Settings" on the iPhone. They handle stuff from mobile internet to MMS. Meteor have a full list on the forum section of their website.

With respect you strike me as someone who wants an iPhone for the fact of having an iPhone. You asked "Is an iphone worth it?" Really only you can answer that question. Its a €600 phone that does the same as a €400 Android. They are getting closer to iPhone spec ever year and by years end, they will be indistinguishable. iPhone had the advantage of being light years ahead with iPhone 1 but companies have caught up fast. It's kinda like asking is a Ferrari worth it when a BMW M3 would have the same performance. Its all relative.

iPhone 5 will most likely be launched in June of this year, retail in Ireland by July I would say. So that should be a consideration as well. Rumored is NFC (Contact-less Payments by RFID) and a larger screen. Nothing to write home about in my eyes.

Thank you, I will check that out now.

I'm not going to lie, I do want one for the fact that it is an iPhone, as i already have an iTouch and an LG GT540 for which i do not like, i feel that maybe i should get my ipod and phone in the one.

I've seen that this is also in the works, and will take your advice on holding out to see what it has to offer.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Thank you for your reply.

No problem. If you have any questions just ask. Glad to help. If I was you, I'd hold off til June and the announcement (most likely) of iPhone 5. Not only will iPhone 4 drop in price on the announcement but iPhone 5 will be the same cost if not cheaper.
