The Black and White thread!

Hadn't played a pokemon game since the Blue/Red days but I decided to pick up the White version the other day.

32 hours in and have to say it's the best game I've played on the DS by far, much more enjoyable than the Zelda games which I never thought I'd say, I just can't put it down. Picked Tepig at the start.

Just in case anyone didn't notice, it's Winter in-game now, meaning if you head to the mines and the town just after them the layout is a little different due to snow drifts - there's a couple of Dowser items you can only pick up in Winter, there's that evil snow-flake/lampshade pokemon which technically you can catch all winter long but it's a bugger to find even in winter (5% encounter rate if memory serves) and the ice bear that pops up everywhere but they're not so hard to find in spring either so it's not as big a deal. Also, as it's the first season change you can finally bring an altered deer to the lab to see what happens.

Edit - Just occurred to me, it shows how far behind Japan the EU wifi tickets are, by now they were already done with their 2nd mystery gift (A snot-bear) 'cause it closed just before the first in-game winter... And that's a scheduled delay, not an earthquake thing, so I can moan about it all I want guilt-free

dang @ banjo, I was one day too late in catching the damn deer, have to wait for a sping XD.
Though I still I have plenty to do in the game.

@Raze, I hate the GTS half the time, what some people ask for. In SS while I was on the search for a full dex(which I finally managed *yay* ) The most asked for was darkrai, I wonder how many actually got the pokes traded to them >.>

I generally breed a wanted pokemon to ****(starters like crazy) or have a few of the same legendaries in case something i really want gets offered( eg my lvl 100 blissy)

Hey guys trying to figure out a way to breed a Denio with BOTH Earth Power and Dark Pulse. Any help would be great as I have very limited internet conection at the momment.

That'd be class. Breed each out normally, with differing genders. From what i understand, a male Deino with Dark Pulse with a female Deino with Earth Power should produce offspring with both. I've never tried though, I might be misunderstanding.

You cannot breed both moves onto the same deino.
Its one or the other .

Moves are passed down from the male pokemon only, as far as I know.

I've been sniped, but damn that. Simply put it can't be done one or the other. Explained quite simply the fathers for Deino that can learn Dark Pulse (TMed from 4th Gen) can't learn Earth Power and vis virsa.

Dark Pulse fathers can include Arbok, Gyarados and Seviper. Your only choice of Earth Power father is a tutored Garchomp.


In other funness, I couldn't finish that blasted "Play to befriend a Pokemon game", so I got my husband to log in and play it for me. It took it three attempts but I finally have an Espeon waiting for me

Really, that game was quite poorly executed. It took me a few goes to finish it too because it was kinda awkward controlling the pad with the mouse.

Think I'll go with Umbreon. Not a great ability, but there's no way to get a good natured Magic Bounce Espeon securely. And I just plain like Umbreon.

Ended up with 4 footprints....how did people get onto my home thingy? i presume it's through some "Recently signed up" type thing...but couldn't find anything like that?

also: how do you water berries? went to one of my "friends", their berry just had the option to select though...even though i had the watering can selected?

My Dream world play kept cutting out ): .... I never got to befriend a pokemon!! *cries* .... and even with the cut outs it stilll adds'em to the hour.... hopefully tomorrow it'lll be better.

Guys, you know you can only keep one befriended pokemon, right? You put a berry in it's mouth and feed it to the hungry tree god at the end of the forest. Otherwise you didn't befriend nothin'....
Females can pass on their natures so are preferable.

Once you've been to the dream world, wake up your pokemon, then go to the Game Link thing (edit : Entralink from local wifi on the C Gear) and explore to the north, you'll find 'em in the clearing. My Arceus (they give one away in a while... ) was right at the back but most regular 'mon were in the first clearing.

I am also looking at the cute smug doctor. I'm taking this time to reflect on how they've really gone after the teenage boy market aggressively on this one, replacing stuffy old Oak with not one but 2 hot lady-profs who probably don't get it on ever but you never know, maybe they do, and also making your in-game mum a 2D schwingtastic ride.

Son of a.... finally got the Dream World to load up at around 11:30, it sat there on the first page waiting for the first-connection intro speech to load up for over an hour, disconnected me and of course I can't go back in for 24 hours. Gaaaah!
