Hey everyone, was considering getting a pair of beats by dre, just a few questions,

    1. Are they worth it?(price)
2 Is there a difference between the solo headphones and the solo HD?

    1) - Nothing made or marketed by Monster Cable is worth it's price.

A lot of sports people wear them but not a lot of musicians wear them. Make of that what you will. I've never tryed them but some Monster stuff is meant to be very good (monster pro copper/miles davis tribute) but the beats by Dre and most of what Monster produce is considered to be overly expensive, with a premium price based on brand recognition. Also from their popularity there are counterfeit products.

I think the difference between the HD and normal is ipod/iphone controls from reading, but I could be wrong.

Without trying them I'd be pretty sure there is better value and sound out there for the kind of money they cost.

Here's a graphical comparison of it and another headphone.

    This explains the above graph:

Btw the Koss Portapro are about £18 on amazon.co.uk.

    Hope some of this helps.

Retailers love them because the mark up is crazy. I ve tried the solos and studios....I thought the solos were fairly poor for the price while the studios were about as subtle as a kick in the face regarding bass.....plus they dont so much leak sound as hemorrhage If it were me I would look at the less fashionable Grado, AKG, even Sennheiser. Also build quality is shocking on the monsters, plastic on the headband coming loose etc.
