Is Burger King veggie burger vegan?

I know their onion rings and fries are, just wondering and if it's not can you get it without something (e.g. sauce) to make it vegan? Thanks

Iirc it has both mayonnaise and cheese. The bean burger itself might contain egg.

I'd be concerned about onion rings and the like being fried with animal products though. Some branches don't but a lot of them do.

With burger king are you sure? It says on their site the fries and onion rings are completely vegan

The ingredients themselves probably are, but I do recall seeing tiny disclaimers on their panels in BK on Grafton St, saying that some products could be fried with other animal products.

You could just ask them when you go in.

According to BK's website it's nowhere near vegan... It even explicitly states that it's not...

that appears to be a US link...the UK one (no Irish site :rolleyes:) only lists the bean burger, which appears to be vegan (apart from the cheese and mayo)

personally, I wouldn't consider them to be a vegan-friendly establishment regardless of the ingredients of their veggie burgers, but that's probably another day's long and boring argument

its a close call. i know sweet chili sauce is vegan and would be your only option. wouldnt make a habit out of eating from chippers if your vegan, mcdonalds say they cook there veggie rap burger in the same oil they cook fish with :eek:
plus at lot of home made chips in trad fish and chip shops are cooked in beef fat so your best off staying away

Yeah be careful looking up American websites of mulitnationals such as BK, McDonalds etc.

McDonalds fries are friend in oil that has beef flavouring in it. The fries themselves consist of 6 ingredients wheras the fries here are potato and vegetable oil.

hes probably just checking his options. its hard to eat out when your vegan. subway is probably the only place outside known veggie restaurants that you can eat in.

There ain't many options out there for vegans and vegetarians so Burger King does provide one in times of need (After 10 pints!). Chili Bean Burger mmmm! Anyway burger is a general term for any kind of processed food patty served in a sandwich format so BurgerKing is an option (at least for vegetarians)

I've never tried the veggie burgers there actually, I might go in some day and see what they're like. My latest obsession has veen MacDonalds vegetable wraps, soo nice!

The BK bean burger is really nice, though quite messy to eat (or is that just me? ) and it's a little big for me normally. Should be way too small for people like Tar though.

The McD wrap's thingy inside is made of chickpeas, iirc.

i read on a mcdonalds coupon that the veggie wraps are cooked in the same oil as fish. BEWARE

All them big horrible places (including Supermacs) fry everything in the same oil. So veggie burgers are thrown in together along with all that. I say avoid these places at all times, anyway. If you're hungry, get a bunch of bananas from a 24-hour shop or wait until you get home!!

BK veggie bean burgers are v nice for fast food. As people said they do come with a warning that they are cooked in the same oil as their fish burger. I haven't eaten any since I saw that, however last couple of times I was in BK in O Connell St I noticed that the fish burger option was blanked out and so was the warning that they're cooked in the same oil. So I wonder if they're ok to eat now.

Well if they aren't cooking the ish burger anymore (ie its blanked out) then I can't see how its the same oil

In Canada BK, Harveys and KFC all have vegan fake meat burgers. They can be microwaved seperately or cooked on same grill/oil as meat. I don't think it's a clear matter of whether it is vegan or not but your own personal line drawing of veganism. It is absolutely impossible to never do anything in life that uses animal products... In the case of the burgers, the product itself that you are buying is vegan, it might come in contact with oils/etc but the intention is not that these are ingredients and either it disgusts you or you live by the spirit of veganism and not necessarily to the letter (because it's pretty much impossible anyway).

The Veggie Bean Burger IS approved by the Vegetarian Society as it is NOT cooked in the same oil as fish and chicken. In fact it's not cooked in oil at all. They also do a vegetarian wrap which is also Veggie approved. Both are NOT Vegan friendly. The fries are not cooked with animal products but the Onion Rings are. So fries = good for veggies & Onion Rings = bad.

a little more clarity on why the bean burgers are not vegan friendly would be helpful... it is the bun or wrap that isn't vegan? is it the mayo and cheese?

Best overall bet is Burger King. Their BK Veggie is vegan in Canada but contains egg whites in the U.S. In the UK they have a vegan BK Veggie Bean Burger. Fries and onion rings are vegan but at least the onion rings may be cooked in the same oil as meat.

then you do not understand the concept of something being vegan friendly, that is easily modified to exclude the obvious dairy toppings.... or mode of prep (what oil it is fried in etc)

so when someone comes in and announces the vegans can't have the BKburger, that is misleading and requires further investigation.
The BURGER is vegan, the burger with all the normal toppings it comes with is not = that means it is vegan friendly
