Viral infections and joint pain

Keeping in mind what the moderators have said about this not being a site for medical advice, I'm just asking for general information here and not information on what I should do about an ailment.

I am simply wondering if a virus like the flu or a bad cold can aggravate an existing muscular or joint injury? If the injury was more of an inconvenience before such an infection, is it possible that such a virus can get into joints and muscles and increase pain and decrease mobility there?

    Cheers...

sorry op, this reads far too much like personal medical advice.

if you have increased pain and decreased mobility then you need to see a doctor about it
