Desktop or Laptop

    So I'm going to need a new computer soon, my old Dell of 7 years (not bad) is starting to pack in.

    I know the spec I want and have had a good look around but I can't decide on whether to get another Desktop or go for a Lappy, mobility is not a factor for me.

    Some posts on here from people reckon Laptops have a lifespan of only 3 years, the quality or build just isin't in them?

    I'm looking for boardie's views on what to get, pro's and con's.

    Thanks.

    Desktop for me.

    Depending on what you're looking at;
    -Cheaper (But really depends on monitor and peripherals) but as far as specs it turns out a bit cheaper
    -More room for upgrade + Less hassle with changing parts
    -Can be cheaper to replace parts
    -Laptop batteries die after a few years
    -Mouse is more comfortable than a trackpad imo
    -You can bash it with your keyboard if it freezes

    It's really preference though with the two
