    McDaid gone. Now Blaney gone.

Anyone dare call this one now and predict the three seats in a historically predictable constituency?

Think Maclochlainn (SF) must be smiling tonight, as surely the former Blaney voters will see him over the line. McHugh (FG) looks a safe bet too.

Will FF be wiped out altogether here now?

    McHugh will walk this one.
Maclochlainn and McConnalough are both from Inishowen, so fighting for the same votes in a small area. But i think Maclochlainn will come out first.

Can't believe Blaney isn't contesting it. Seems very strange to me, there was no sign of it at the start of the week. I know the split from the wife might have something to do with it, but i wonder was he asked to step aside (one candidate per area), but that would be very stupid of FF.

I presume Keaveny will be the sole candidate now?

Stated at a FF convention that she wouldn't be running.

I wouldn't speak too soon, There's plenty of other Blaneys and as an Independent.

McConalogue now the sole FF candidate.

Third seat should now be a battle between him and Jimmy Harte.

Sorry, but here's the Donegal Daily link. Larkin will have to declare as an Independent now, but it sounds like he won't.

This could go to SF , it was always a two way battle here between FG and FF and when you are historicaly an anybody but FG voter its hard to see where you would go now other than to SF, the hurt runs too deep up here this is an angry defection to SF if ever I saw one!!

"Decisions made in Dublin by people who dont know the area" Aw poor Dessie, and he says he feels" a bit raw" this morning . I think this decision could help cllr Larkin in the long-term, It'll make a man out of him, he'll have to go it alone now or defect maybe, as long as he dosent give in altogether ,with his experience of Letterkenny he can only be an asset to the town.

We could gloat I suppose that he has expierienced at first hand the feiling that the rest of us feel all the time, ignored and forgotten by Dublin , nothing new there, welcome on board Dessie .
