Trying to get an appraisal on a 1983 black and yellow citroen charleston its the rarest of the 80's 2cv's and have been told unrestored that they can get upwards of 3K, this sounds about right but i also have a 2cv diane to go eith it for parts etc so does anyone actually know what kinda value there would be on it? If your interested in buying it dont bother giving me a price im literally looking for informational purposes only

To be honest, it all depends on the condition of the car... A Charleston isn't worth more than a regular 2CV, given the fact that all the stickers you need to transform a regular 2CV into a Charleston are available new, and cost next to nothing. Most yellow and black Charlestons are actually not real Charlestons.

3k for an unrestored 2CV Charleston? Sounds like silly money to me. I'd expect a concours condition one for that kinda money.

And for that kinda money, you'd want a RHD as well ;)

wasnt me put it up on done deal and if u notice it has been taken down so as to not waste peoples time i was unaware of the add as my brother put it up(crossed wires) and stuck my name on it cos obviously i own it. this is definatly a real charleston we have owned it since new in 83 and it was bought from citroen directly, since posting yesterday i have been told by many people that it is absolutley worth 3k especially with the diane with it but thanks to all for getting back to me on it, i have decided to put the money in to it to restore it, any cv that is selling for 3k restored are dollys and dianes which are common as muck where as the real charleston is worth significantly more

    Few remarks :D
    - If you already know what they're worth, then why ask other people...
    - I wouldn't exactly call a 2CV common as muck - when's the last time you saw one on the road?
    - If you bought it new in 1983, then why is it a LHD?
    :D:D:D

and PS: Dyane is spelled with a y :P

Don't be too harsh here on the OP ;), as the Charleston came in three colour scheme's as per 1981: most common Burgundy/black, then Light/Dark grey, and rarest of the bunch Yellow/Black.
The UK and therefore Ireland as well, would have mostly seen the Dolly, which just as the Charleston, would have started out as a Special edition, and later in 85 became a model on its own.

These cars and especially the Charleston were sold a lot on the continent, so there is a huge following still in Holland, Belgium and Germany, with specialist and lots of cars for sale. Some Charlestons fetch up to 8-9k for absolute minters, but a Charleston in very good condition, could fetch around 4-6k here. However, a car needing restoration will not be worth more than between 1-2k max.

I guess Ireland is not the country to sell the car if you're trying to get the max out of it: the fact that she is LHD should help pitching it in Europe and you may even get your 3k is she's still overall in good nick, but the transport will put most people off!!

    I beg to differ... ;)

The Dolly is not as the Charleston. The Dolly is based on the 2CV6 Spécial, the basic version so, with different colours. The Charleston however, was based on the 2CV Club, the higher spec model. Well... higher spec means it had a different speedo and it had an ashtray as standard. But still :D

The Charleston definitely started out as a Special model of, indeed, the Club. It was introduced in the early eighties (in different years for different countries) and it basically replaced the "Club" which was discontinued end of 1980. Same as the Charleston, the Dolly too started out life as a special edition of the "Spécial" in 1985, and was basically introduced as a full blown model from 1986 onwards.

    in reply to 2cv:
I asked other people to verify and to validate my own information its what people do when they arent sure they ask others who may know more

i have also seen quite a few dollys and dyane(thanks for spell check) on the road round tipp as their is a big vintage scene down here

in reply to the LHD question my mother who owns it from new lived in holland where the car is bought and if i check they drive on the right smart arse!!

thanks paul u have helped a bit there but im not selling it ive decided to restore it as its actually in very good nick as it is and wont take much work to bring back to mint!! tis really only the front wings that need some attention and the engine needs a bit of a rebuild but with the dyane there i dont think it will be too bad!

Really? They drive on the right? I lived in Holland for a few years and i never noticed :D

If the car came in from Holland, does that mean it's still on a dutch reg or has it been re-registered?

Oh and please, there's no need for bad language!

    :D:D

I've never seen a real one (and i've seen A LOT of 2CVs over the years). You can, however, buy the sticker set to transform a normal 2CV into a 007.

I am not expert.. according to the web 500 were made. I imagine to be used in the showrooms.

    here's a one owner, 134k km's example in Switzerland:

    !!qtPtewBm0~$(KGrHgoOKiwEjlLmE-R)BKhT751z+g~~_19.JPG

A genuine 007 "James Bond" special edition, with the fake bullet holes.
It seems this was a special edition alongside the 700 'ordinary' 007's

    pricetag.....

    17,860 euro's

I'd say the 10-12k markup over a normal Yellow 2cv6 should get you a long way into making it look exactly the same :D
