Ways to save on oil heating?

So I've made a few changes to the way I heat my house:

    1. Turn the power from Max down to Medium

    2. Turn off the radiators in the hall, bathroom, and any other rooms that I don't hang out in.

    3. Wear a jumper and slippers.

Any more ways of saving on costs?

And does it actually make a difference if you turn off radiators in the rooms or does the boiler still use the same amount of fuel?

There was a very detailed thread on this sometime in December because I am trying to do the same.

If my memory serves me right, turning off rads does save, but it is false economy. In my case I have two rads in a sitting room, which I only use now and again, but I leave one on all the time. I turn rad off in bathroom and en-suite.

I think the secret is in insulation which means you only have to have heating on a few hours a day.

I am going to look into insulating walls and upgrading attic as well.

I am sure if you search back you will find more detailed and knowledgeable replies.

Like, you think you are saving money by turning off rads but in the long run, rooms need to have some heat on during the winter. They could become mouldy from lack of circulating warm air.

turn the boiler on for one hour during the day for CH and HW and that will save u money :)

insulation is the key.. keep your house well insulated to keep heat in
