Dell Laptop driving me crazy

    Hi

I was using my dad's laptop (Dell Inspiron) last night, doing some important writing etc. I watched an episode of something (the critic) and fell asleep, it was very nearly emptry so I unplugged the laptop so I could recharge it fully in the morning. I didn't turn it off. Suffice it to say the laptop was not dropped, spilled on, or anything else. It was sitting in one place all night.

Anyway, when I woke this morning i plugged in the laptop and went to get tea, and 10 mins later when I turned on the computer the loading screen went to 3/4 full, the blue bar, and then it began beeping 8 equal beeps. ??????????????????

I am livid as I will be blamed for this. I have a laptop for 5 years that has been through wars and always worked. This happened a few months ago, though I am unsure of how many beeps it was getting then. This Laptop is still only 8-9 months old and hardly ever used!!!

What the hell can I do?

Is there anything I can do? I want to get this fixed asap without sending it back I have loads of stuff saved on computer that I needed today.

EDIT: JUST FOUND MY OLD THREAD FOR 1st PROBLEM. http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=2056032294

It was same problem then. 8 Beeps again! What do you reckon: will it have to go back-- again?

It's either a memory problem (try reseating -- remove and reinstall both modules) or a mainboard issue. Hope it helps

Be sure that it is 8 beeps and not a combination of short and long beeps or beeps that repeat a sequence.

    Hey

Actually using laptop now. It worked about the 20th time I tried it. Hope this problem has resolved itself.

I will never buy a dell, though. I used Hate my Acer Aspire, it's a bit crap in most ways (agresswive fan; slow and gammy) but It has never once given up on me despite being dropped and spilled upon and that is what you want in a machine.
