Do former Ireland A players like Reese Ruddock get selected over better talent?

This coming from the fact that Declan Kidney has ignored better talents such as Jennings and is intent on keeping old players in his squad when an injection of talent is needed before the World Cup.

i certainly feal kidney has it all to proove this 6 natioins, but jennings is an out and out 7, and ruddock an out and out 6

And Rhys Ruddock is twenty. I'd call that promoting talent

I'm almost certain Rhys Ruddock has never played for Ireland A. Just the U20 team and the full Test team.

I wonder about the motivation of someone called kidney punch in his first ever post

Obviously punching Deccie is top priority!

I have no idea what you're getting at OP. Ruddocks just a lad. He's certainly not an 'old player'.

On Jennings. Its now commonplace for Irish managers to ignore 7's altogether. You have to be a 6 or 8 to be considered for Ireland. Playing a natural openside in the 7 jersey just seems too radical to be even contemplated.
