What's the best way to paint this type of wall? Spray paint or just brush? Would I need to power-hose it first or does it not matter?

Is it a big job(lot of paint, time)? i.e. would I be better off hiring some company?

A good masonary stipple brush and also a masonary deep pile roller brush.

Spraying is useless and messy too,:(

why would you want to paint a dry dash with marble chips in it the whole point of that finish is to leave the colored stones exposed ? if it is discolored or has green algi growing on it then get a 5 liter can of bleach from lidl and a 5 liter weed killer sprayer from woodies. dilute bleach 1 to 1 and spray on wall leave over night and wash off with garden hose. total cost 35 euro and it will look like new

May sound stupid but...With just water or something else too?

Can give it a go I suppose and see if it turns out alright. TBH though, painting over the stones doesn't bother me, they've been there long enough.
