Evening all, I posted the following question a week ago, but think that I may have posted it,where it went unnoticed ,so I have started a new thread.
I would be pleased if one living in Dingle Co.Kerry. would be able to tell me, if its possible to receive the RTE DTT channels the same as I can receive them myself in East Cork.I am enquiring on behalf of an old aged couple, who live in Dingle.and wish to watch the RTE DDT channels.
Cheers and thanks in advance for any info, that one may give.

I'm not from Dingle or anywhere near it but AFAIK it has its own 'fill in' transmitter.
This is unlikely to be presently broadcasting Saorview & probably won't at any stage.
Find out if they have analogue TV3 reception as that would be from Mullaghanish which carries Saorview on UHF channel 21.

I haven't heard of any plans for Saorview to be provided from the relay in Dingle. If the location is outside the immediate village, the relay from Cahirciveen should give coverage when the DTT signal is switched on. It may take a good aerial to bring it in. There'll need to be no big hills between where the house is and where Cahirciveen is on the Iveragh penninsula. Mullaghanish (where the TV3 analogue comes from) looks weak in Dingle but if they're getting TV3 that isn't too snowy then they'll have a good chance of getting Saorview from there.

We'd need to know how good their TV3 signal is (if any), and on what channel (I mean UHF channels, from Ch. 21 to 68) they get their TG4 from. If it's tuned in at Ch.33 then it's looking more doubtful. If it's tuned in on Ch. 49 the chances are better.

Either way, if worst comes to worst there will be a free to air satellite equivalent of Saorview that should start up before the end of the summer. There's a few differences from the Freesat service from the UK. See here: http://www.techtir.ie/saortv/saorsat

Ah I wasn't aware that Maamclassach was to be upgraded. Did you hear that from RTÉNL?

Number 38 on the list http://www.techtir.ie/tv-radio/Irish-DTT-Sites

Not exactly official. Actually not official at all. But I have reason to believe mostly correct.

The value of the number is of no real significance.

Thats the plan by all accounts.

Watty's list of sites on Techtir although not official is fairly accurate.

I have been in contact with RTE and RTE NL about tectir and saortv.info but they seem coy about verifying or denying anything. I also personally know two RTE NL engineers. They claim I know more than they do ;) about DTT rollout.
