Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of Kara coconut milk stockists in Dublin?

I got some in the RDS at the health & nutrition expo but haven't found any since. I usually shop in Nourish but they don't stock it... I find that if I use it in my breakfasts it makes me feel a lot fuller than soya milk.

    Thanks :)

I'm not 100% sure but I think they should have this in the Hop Sack in Rathmines. They had a window display based around coconut products at one stage and Kara milk was part of it. If you give them a ring or an email (here's their contact info) they should be able to help you out- they're very nice in there.

It gets a mention in their blog here so you might be in luck!

    Health Store on Camden St
    Dunnes in Cornelscourt (best price)
    Evergreen on Wexford St

You'd probably find it in Nourish, Health Matters, Down to Earth. Can't say I've ever seen it in Holland & Barrett.

Stupid question, but does Coconut milk taste like Coconut?

What I mean is recently having read of the reported benefits of cocnonut oil I have added it to my diet. I now cook with and eat coconut oil, adn I was pleasantly surprised to find that eating coconut oil was like eating desicated coconut :)

Was thinking of switching from cows milk to coconut milk, as I only use it on my oats in the morning or sometimes in protein shakes. So was was wondering if it too would taste like desicated coconut?

I use Kara to make porridge, milkshakes, pancakes, or as a hot or cold drink by itself or with cinammon, vanilla, whey protein etc.
It's a lot more diluted with water than the tinned coconut milk so it doesn't taste as strongly of coconut at all. I tried it in coffee but that didn't taste so good

It's sure is watered down like the above poster said, but it has a nice sweet taste to it. I really like it and much nicer than diluting tinned coconut milk

Dunnes Stores in Donaghmeade sell it in 500g tubs for about €4.80 ish. It's really nice and can easily be taken off a spoon. It's with the other oils and I am sure other Dunnes stores will also stock it.

the chinese market on drury st also sell coconut oil for 1.99 for a large jar ( about 500gsm I think 0 - but its not virgin it's just 100% coconut oil, I found virgin gives a hint of coconut, but this doesn't.

The one in Dunnes is Extra Virgin and IMO there is more than a "hint" of coconut off it. Off a spoon it tastes like eating desiccated coconut om nyom nyom :D

Yea - I paid a ridiculous amount for Virgin oil before off ebay - it was rather lovely and you quickly get used to the taste in everything ( lovely ). I'm gonna keep using the cheaper one too though - the wife also puts it in her hair ! Is there nothing it can't do !

coconut oil makes you into a sex machine but its banned in 50 states - FACT!!

Hold on i might be thinking about something else.

Seriously though the dunnes stores one I buy 4-5 tubs at a time for my paleo bars as its such good value for money - totally delish

I've been buying Kara Coconut Milk for a few months now in Dunnes Food Court on Henry Street and have noticed it's much much cheaper than the health food shops around, i believe i saw it for in and about €2.35 in Nourish and it's around €1.80 in Dunnes.

Also I had one open for 6 days in the fridge and it still kept fine. It's got a very mild coconut taste but much less sugar than Rice Milk. I'm only new to this coconut milk business but I have to say, minus the coffee and tea it seriously can do the job just as good as milk.
