I need to get a bus from Busaras to Dublin Airport. I know that both 747 and 748 do this route, but which one is best? Do both go through town first or is one direct? How long does it take? Thanks

When I got the 747 it went via O'Connell street I think and then Dorset street and it took about 30mins to make the airport.

The 748 is a bit quicker, as the 747 leaves Busaras and then serves O'Connell Street. The 748 normally heads directly to the port tunnel after Busaras. However, the 747 is more frequent.

41 is better for the same price as it doesnt go into beaumont. Route starts near busaras so you should be better able to judge when it will come.

16a and 41 serve the same stops on Lower Dorset street and drumcondra resulting in a relatively decent frequency to the airport

For anyone travelling on a Bus Eireann service to Dublin that does not directly serve the airport you can get an add-on fare for €3 single/€6 return for use on the 747/748.

Time and the ability to carry luggage. Not all 16As and very few 41s have luggage bays.

I still can't get used to the idea of the 16A as the bus to the airport. I was just getting accustomed to the 16A being extended beyond its old Beaumont terminus at Shanboley Road too.

Speaking of unorthodox routes serving the airport: Does anyone remember the one trip on the 33 that was supposed to serve the airport, as well? In the 1986 timetable, it was the 0740 departure from Eden Quay on Mondays to Saturdays.

All buses in Summerhill have luggage bays no? Except AV267-273, as far as I know.

The following buses in Summerhill have no additional luggage racks:
    AV109-115
    AV228
    AV267-273
    AV331 & 332
    AX549 & 626
    EV22, 37-50
    VG34 & 35

What about euro buses from Harristown that might end up on airport routes?

747 and 748 are also free if you have daily, weekly, monthly or annual tickets.

So that explains why I only see RVs and AV400s on the 16/A
