    Well lads.
Was talking to the local super during the week and was told I should recieve my lisence for my Tikka T3 on monday (if an post play ball)
So before my new baby arrives I was wondering about ammo.
My plan is to buy a few boxes of different makes of ammo to try out and see which I prefer but as I only have experience with .22lr I have no idea what the best ammo would be (weight etc)
The rifle is .223 cal with a 1 in 8 twist rate. Am i right in thinking that this twist rate will handle the heavier rounds best (like 80 grain)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

When I first got mine I bought some Remmy 55gr Metal Case. That was cheap ammo for running in the barrel and to get me on paper for zero'ing and were around E12. They were cheap and did the job but needed a little more stopping than the HP's, that was the problem with them.

For the foxes' I prefer to use Hornady Varmint Express 55gr V-Max.

Remington Accutip 55 grain are great in my t3 tactical, expensive though!

You won't go wrong with most ammo from 50-75gr. I never came across anything heavier but it will Handel them if you can get them

My preferred round is the 55gr v-max. But I have great results plinking out to 500 with 75gr BTHP match ammo.

At the moment I am using 50gr Norma. They have a 50gr v-max head. And they are lethal and accurate. The other night I shot some bunnies and a fox at 300 with them. Oh and a grey crow at around 150 and all that was left was a pile of feathers.
My rifle is the tikka tac. Which one are you getting

I wouldn't worry about it. The longest fox kill I ever had was with a tikka t3 lite at 365 paces or about 400m so it is just as capable as the tactical. That was using 55gr v-max.
