Leaving before notice period?

    Hello,

So I've been working for a recruitment agency for 2 weeks, and have now been offered a far better job which I really want to accept. Problem is, I will need to start monday morning. Now, I have a 30 day notice period for my current job. Would there be any repercussions for me if I would just resign today and not stay during the notice period? If it makes any difference it is a contract I've signed that simply says that I'm "required to give 30 days notice"

I understand my current employer would not be too happy with me but this is a really good opportunity I just don't want to let slip away.

It really depends on how small a community the recruitment business is?

You could leave and never mention the 2 weeks with the current employer. However, if employers talk, it will be well known that you walked without notice, and your employer may mention it the next time he/she sees your name mentioned.

If you can, just explain it as not working out. Always, always try never to burn your bridges
