I was down in the uncles place tonight and asked him was there much across the fields. He said he has never seen it as quiet. Was out last night with the lamp and there was nothing stirring at all.

Just noticed I hit 1000 posts, only 950 of them total crap :)

Yeah I have been out about 7 times the last month and have seen very little compared to what was around last oct/nov.

    Roll on spring/summer !

we were out for a deer there about 3 weeks ago and we were heading up to meet another fella at his place and we said if we could lamp a fox on the way over before it got bright since the lamp was still in the van and the place light up with eyes. rabbits everywhere in every field.
we were out on the nights and saw feck all. 6 o clock would be some time for it id say right up till past sunrise.

Loads around here - I've come to the conclusion that dry but cold weather suits them alot more then the typical wet Irish winter.

I wouldn't worry too much - numbers are always at their lowest just before the breeding season:)

PS: Assuming theres no mixie knockin round :(

Numbers were down in my area in 2010 after the severe winter and they never really got back up again so I think it will be worse this year after the winter we had.

+1 ive seen more hares in the last month than ive seen in my life. 4 is all ive seen in 19 years and the last month we stopped looking at 11 of them sitting inside the ditch without a care in the world that we were there. saw about 10 more in different places too. really no point in shooting them though. haven't heard a farmer complain about them yet and they wont be eaten so they wont be shot.
