    Hi all,
apologies if this have been answered before, did a search and could not find anything.
My wife submitted a claim for tuition fees (4 years old), the claim was posted in late December and arrived in early Jan.
Revenue are refusing the claim based on the four year rule. I checked their site and it states that " Claims for refunds must be made within 4 years of the end of the year to which the claim relates. Claims made after this time cannot be repaid."

Can anyone advise if the claim date in the date that that claim was sent or the date that the claim was received by Revenue?

On a side note: It was my wife that made the claim, but Revenue send the refusal to me and not her, any idea why?

    thanks in advance

If they only received it in January you ll have to prove it was sent December to have any hope.

They sent it to you as your the one who is assessed. i.e. you are jointly assessed but in your name.

    Regards,

    Brian

    Hi Brian,
thanks for the feedback. Yip it was sent in December (via registered post), specifically on Dec 31st. (my understanding, maybe incorrectly was that the application needed to be send, as apposed to received, within the specified time period)
I'll give then a call and see what happens.
    thanks again
