    Hi folks.

Need your help with calculting VAT and VRT on a new car. I have received different figures from garages in relation to this and my head is fried!!

Its a Skoda Octavia Ambiente 1.6 Diesel. The list price is 21,515. Now can anyone please tell me what the VRT and the VAT is on this car. I can claim these back from Revneue under the disabled drivers/passengers scheme, but cannot seem to get a consistent answer from the garage.

Just need to see if i can actually afford a new car at all!!

    thanks for your help...

    confused!!!!

    I reckon it is €15,937.03

Based on 21% VAt and 14% VRT - from CarZone.

    I'm getting:

    vrt 2772

    VAT 3252

VRT is close enough to that on the VRT calculator that it looks more or less right to me.

To get the figures, you need to take the list price and multiply this by 0.92 to get the Open Market selling price. The VRT rate of the car (14% in this case) is found from this figure (19,793.8 x 0.14).

To get the VAT, take the VRT off the list price, that's the VAT inclusive price (18743) so divide by 1.21 to get the ex. vat figure.

Think that's right, but my VAT might be off because my brain doesn't work so well this at this time of the evening.
