Civil Service Extended Career Break - CSO

    Hi,

    Just wondering if there are some civil servants who are currently on an extended career break and have been advised of the temporary posts with CSO?

    There are supposedly 16 EO posts to be filled (2 IT and 14 Non-IT). However, has anyone heard when these posts might be filled? I'm still waiting for HR to come back to me as CSO are "processing applications" at present. With the Census being in April, one would have thought that these posts would be filled shortly.

    The management posts have been filled from what I've been informed.

    The Census posts have been filled (supervisory and temporary CO roles).

    Yes those posts are for general public applications but there are actual civil service posts within the CSO that are to be filled for the Census 2011. A circular came out months back for Temporary Assignment /Secondment Opportunities with the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in Swords, Co. Dublin‏.

    Civil Servants looking to transfer from a Department or those on a career break would be eligible to apply. There might also be staff redeployed from Departments who have to get their staff numbers down.

    I had just wondered if anyone knew when these posts were to be filled now that the Field Supervisor and Enumerator posts have been filled.

    I'm sure there must be some civil servants on a career break waiting to resume duty.

    We got a circular a few weeks back about secondments to CSO (CO/SO and EO). The closing date for applications was January 12th 2011.

    Can I ask, when was the circular you saw circulated?

    Circular 14/2010: Census of Population in April 2011 - Temporary Assignment
    /Secondment Opportunities with the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in Swords, Co.
    Dublin was published on 11 October 2010. This was the only one I have seen to date and, apparently, CSO are still processing applications.
