Not sure if anyone can help me with this or if it goes against the charter i don't think it does, but my apologies if I'm wrong, mods.

How long does it generally take from receiving notice of entitlement to inherit from a dead relative until the money comes through?

I don't want to add anything to that in case in contravenes the charter. :)

    Thanks all!

Depending on the individual circumstances, could be anything from between six months to six years or beyond...

There are two major influencers on how long it takes....

    1. The complexity of the estate

    2. The competence or otherwise of the person doing the probate. If it's a solicitor you are the mercy of how busy he or she is and whether he or she is giving the matter any level of priority.

I did the probate for an aunt of mine who died in July, I had the probate sorted by November, that is probably the fastest you could do as the estate was relatively straightforward but a lot of the time I was waiting for responses from official bodies (probate office and rev. commissioners) and in those situations there's nothing you can do to speed things up.

    Oh.

That's not what I wanted to hear at all. :(

Oh well. (I know I sound cavalier about it, but tbh my Great Aunt died in September and we got letters in January informing us that they'd tracked us down as her nearest living relatives... We actually thought she was already dead, which sounds bad.)
