I'm considering getting something to hook up to our TV, though the TV is 8-10 years old and doesn't have any USB or HD/HDMI features. From reading around online I can see some players support limited formats, others support a good deal more. I see something Blu Ray players (such as this Sony) allow you to use your USB stick to play files which could be quite useful, though if you want anything high res your files would have to reflect that. Western Digital media players/drives also hold some appeal, though we'd have to hook them up via scart. I've not researched them 100%, but can you add stuff to them via your PC or do you run them from USB key or your network? I'd prefer to load stuff on and leave it there rather than be trying to network it. I've looked at a few clips on youtube, but I'm not sure.
