Thought it might be interesting to see if people can predict what the outcome will be of theor NCT. I have mine @ 9am this morning and I predict the following...

07 Mondeo TDCi 225,000 km (old shape)

    Result...Fail

    Reasons...
    Passenger seat loose
    Steering rack needs replacement
Emissions (4yr old diesel Mondeo 225,000km on the clock)

If anyone else wants to join in I thnk this could be a good one.

If anyone doesn't agree, feel free to ridicule me, I'm well able for it.:D

I often recommend people with old bangers to send them through the test knowing they'll fail to find out what to fix.

You've bangerficated your car in just four years!

Fail on headlight adjustment and badly corroded brake pipes.

Seems to be the 2 most common faults at the moment.

Why did you think the steering rack needed replacement?
Also 225Kkm and 4 years old is no reason for an emissions fail really.

    Congrats on the pass :)

    Demand a re-test! :)

Your clutch will fall out within 1000kms! Oh, and you'll get penalty points before the weekend. Karma is a bitch :D

    Congrats on the pass :)

Car was serviced on Monday and bar a couple of bulbs the only thing needing attention is the steering rack. Car is due to go back off lease in 6 weeks and lease company aren't willing to pay to have it done.

On the emissions, the choking fumes on start-up and black plumes of smoke on downshift made me think it wouldn't pass.

If you r using car in city mostly thats a reason for emissions fail take it for a spin on motorway and go high with RPMs but not too much :P

I had an 05 Mondeo back on 05 and 06, it smoked like feck under acceleration, in the dark with a car's lights behind it was unreal the amount of it. I hated that car.

Not loose the way you're picturing, it's fully anchored to the floor, it's a very slight movement (1/2" at most) when somebody is sitting in it.

As long as you're 100% it's firmly anchored to the car. It's not the kind of thing you want coming loose in an accident!

I'd nearly always recommend someone just check bulbs, number plate conformity, get the headlights aligned and plop some dipthane into the tank before a test. Let them then check what's wrong if anything, and go fix it.

Yeah mine's the same, I enjoy dropping a gear and seeing the clouds of smoke in headlights behind.:)

I took a car in last week. Expected it to fail on :
    1. speedo not working.
    2. rear tyres extremely close to illegal.
    3. Back door handle dodgy.
    4. Lord knows what else....

Actual fail: headlight alignment. I'd put the fecking bulb in crooked.... so have to retest....

I have mine on Saturday, 13.40

My tints are a fail but we'll see what happens, brakes are a bit iffy, I killed my discs on the track and am still waiting on my 'Endless' pads and discs. Other than that I should be ok. Emissions will be fine, sure I can lean it out with my ECU :D, my cat is on a shelf at the moment and in perfect nick. I have new tyres, trailing arm bushings are done and none are in bad shape, suspension is good and everything works.

Mines coming up in 2 weeks, i think it's going to fail tbh. The rear drums aren't in great condition. It'll fail on the handbrake, and possibly the headlight alignment. I replaced the whole headlight unit there a week ago, i've aligned it myself to some extent, so it's not blinding people, but i doubt it's correct.

They don't go fast enough to check the speedo. Sometimes if the tyres have more than 1.6mm but less than 3mm thread they advise you of this FYI :)

I'd this exact conversation with my mechanic yesterday :)

BF's car failed on the headlights, passed fine on retest.

Mine is on Feb. 12, and will fail on :

    1. Airbag warning light.
    2. Emissions:- Thermostat looks to be buggered.
    3. Housing for drivers seatbelt is dislodged but seatbelt is working fine, so dunno.

That's what I'm expecting anyway I'm putting it through to see if there is anything else wrong with it according to them, then it's off to the mechanic :)

    1. Rear suspension bushes knackered
    2. Rear discs and pads seen better days
    3. CV boot weaping slightly
    4. ARB bushes worn
    5. Headlights wouldn't be bang on
    6. I know it's not relevant but the patches of isopon don't give it a good impression either :P
