maternity pay and taxes

    my wife has been on mat leave since last sept. her monthly wage from then until end of year had been up 400 a month net because of prsi rebate i think. this months wages are down over 100 euro. i had understood that she was not paying taxes whiles on maternity leave so we were not expecting cuts to take effect until she returned to work ??? was i mistaken in this assumption.

    Is this maternity payment from the government or from her employer?

    My maternity benefit has been cut from €270 per week to €262 since the payment on 4.01.11.

    I get no payment from my employer.

    How do you get a prsi rebate?
