Hey guys. About to get a new AEG but I'm not sure which one to get. Anybody know an AEG that is accurate, has good range, and can be used in CQB as well? I was looking at an M16 but I don't know how useful that would be in CQB. Any advice?

Oh, and max budget is about 350ish. Thanks :)

I'v only ever heard good things from my Mates CA m4, but thats only one person, which would be optional for your CQB and is ultimatly a short m16. But i hear LOADS of people have bad experiences with CA. E160 i think.

Or the KWA m4, which is made of metal unlike the CA m4, only heard good things about that too, sturdier gearbox and gears i believe. E260 i think, better quality.

and for accuracy and range you'd just havto play around with the hop-up like every AEG or you could always buy persision barrels and better hop-ups!

    just my 2 Dolla :)

    G&G all the way!
They have loads of suitable AEG's in your price range.

They make a very nice full metal CQB-s.
Very good for CQB and woodland.

Have you thought about what style aeg you want?as in m4,ak or bullpup? It will make it easier for people to recommend you some brands and models.

Anything really except an AK (I've had bad experiences in the past :D ). Preferably full metal as well, and a retractable or folding stock would be a plus too.

Dboys full metal M4A1 or CQBR.

    Why?

    Good price (€190 - 230)

    Solid Gearbox

    Full Metal

    Renowned reliability.

for your budget you would get a nice G&G, if your worried about a long gun in FIBUA learn to corner wider, i use on occasion a fal in FIBUA!

To be honest, unless you're dead set on an M4/16, you're limiting your choice for rifles that can duel role effectively.

In my eyes, a rifle capable of holding it's own in a CQB environment has to pass Sir Dexingtons Patented Jamb Test.
Simply put, shoulder your rifle, aim down the sights and stand with your shoulder blade on the door jamb. In one motion, turn into the room without moving the rifle up or down, using that shoulder blade as a pivot. Your shoulder blade shouldn't move out of that position, nor should your rifle make contact with anything.
If it passes that, it's short enough for most of the tight spots you'll come across in a CQB game.

The problem is accuracy over long range generally isn't associated with short barrel rifles (there's always the odd exception though). This is where bullpups fill in, giving you a low profile rifle with great accuracy over range. Take the F2000 for example (since it's the newest on the block), it's physical length is roughly equivalent to that of an M4, but it's barrel length is almost double that of the M4, closer to the length of the venerable M14.

There's not a huge choice in the bullpup market compared to M4's, but they do both tasks well and they're both comfortable and distinctive. The AUG is a classic, as is the L85. The Tavor and F2000 are the newest options, with the F2000 quickly establishing dominance in the category.
It's worth a look if you aren't dead set on the M4/16 option.

another thing most aegs both short and long guns have pretty similar ranges ,having a good hop up unit and rubber will negate the need for a longer barrel

It's a system. To get the most out of it, you need both. I can get an MP5k to range out to 50m, but that doesn't mean it's going to be capable of hitting a barn door at so much as 20m.
The 247mm barrel in your standard M4 is fine for most situations, but an accuracy increase will be gained by upgrading said barrel (and cylinder), or - preferably - the gun type, to a slightly longer barrel - a 363mm for example. Couple that barrel with a good hop rubber and a quality airseal and you'll find a dramatic increase in both range and accuracy.

    Practical example? Sure, no problem.
I have a custom short M4 Patriot here with a 171mm Madbull Black Python barrel on a stock hop unit with a Guarder "clear" silicon rubber.
I also have an Echo1 P90 with a 247mm Madbull Black Python barrel on a stock hop unit with a Guarder "clear" silicon rubber.

Both are pretty much the same size. If anything, the Patriot is a touch longer, but it's in the buffer cap which is purely for show, so we'll ignore that. Despite them being the same length, the P90 has a longer barrel due to it's bullpup configuration. They do, however, have as close to identical hop and barrel set-ups as could be expected given the design difference.
To cut a long story short, the range on both is practically the same, however, the P90 is far more accurate than the Patriot.
Out to about 25m, the difference isn't noticeable, but beyond this is when it starts to become apparent. Beyond 40m, the difference is slap-in-the-face obvious. While both can easily spit a round to this distance, it's the P90 that can still do it with a degree of accuracy and predictability.
