depends on how old it is.
If it's over a year - probably the 7mm bushings.
The current gearboxes have 8mm bushings.

    Yep - I'm running a scar since 2007 and a 416 since 2008. Brilliant.
They changed from 7mm nylon to 8mm steel bushings.
I changed the SCAR 7mm bushings after about 40-50K rds to bearings when I opened the gearbox to reveal no issues - still looked like new.
The problem was the motor had lost it's torque. (seen it happen to a few vfc's)

I also changed the 416 bushings to bearings when I was rewiring the gearbox to the rear. Easy job.

As a back-up I have bought spare gearboxes for both. (cheaper and easier than buying all the parts seperately). Both the newer 8mm steel bushing. Havent needed either but handy to have a drop in replacment to which can be changed in a few minutes.

I rate VFC very highly - best guns I ever bought (alongside some of my TM's)and well worth the money imo.

Most shops will probably be able to get them. I think I bought the ones I used from ehobby.

Personally I wouldnt run it onything higher than a 7.4V lipo. (I only use 8.4 or 9.6V abtteries myself). The rof on an 11V lipo would be insane and bound to lead to premature failure. It's quick enough on a 9.6. ;)

Regards bearings - they can vary alot in price so shop around and you probably get what you pay for.

Examples of two types from ehobby ($5.50 and $32.99)

    There's a huge selection available.;)

I'm afraid I'll only be selling them if the guns go first as they are my spares.

The guys in QAS stocked the VFC M4 / SCAR gearboxes a while ago and were selling them with motors. They should be able to get them in easy enough if needed.

I've also bought from WGC but I think the gearboxes they sell are the 7mm version with the scar selector plate (need to be changed for an M4 type). They also sell shells but the complete gearbox is the best value if you're looking for spares.

I dont know what selector plate/gearbox version is used on the pdw:confused:. Never worked on one. A V2 M4-type I assume but someone who knows for sure would be able to answer that.

Here's one of the WGC scar L offerings:
    http://www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/product_detail1.php?search_From=searchItem&item=VFC-PT-SCAR23&search=searchItem&rs=vfc&catid=&cat=

You would have to rewire it for a pdw (front wired). Better to get a ready to go version maybe. Talk to the guys in QAS - they are the only guys I've seen selling the complete gearboxes here.
