Stressing over what to wear for an interview tomorrow. It's a technical/service 'blue collar' job and have been out of work for a while so have forgotten the etiquette.

Have at the moment the following, but unsure of combinations: a black suit (jacket and trousers) jeans, cream coloured chinos (but maybe too casual?), a black shirt, a light yellow shirt.Tie or not?

Just can't think what would be best, don't want to be too casual or over smart.

    Please helpppppppppp!

    Thanks.

Hi would definitely steer clear of jeans or chinos! I would go with the suit and a shirt- depending on the type of suit and shirt you could either wear a tie or get away without one! Best of luck!!

As above poster said - definitely stay clear of jeans & chinos, way too casual for any interview imo.

if you feel uncomfortable in full suit, lose the jacket & just stick with smart shirt & suit pants. the tie is up to yourself. if it adds to what your wearing - go for it!

id also stay clear of yellow shirt unless it really suits your colouring etc.

    good luck!....give 'em hell!:D:cool:

If its a black suit I would go with a light colour so white (possibly with a light coloured pinstripe)/lilac/salmon shirt.

I cant even think of a suit that a light yellow shirt would look good or professional with. And a black shirt would run the risk of looking a bit funeral-ish.

Overall I would definitely go for a suit and shirt and you might as well go for the tie. Its always better to err on the side of caution.

Shirt and tie combos can be picked up in Penneys/Dunnes or Marks if you want to avoid splurging.

It's best to look as professional as possible. You could wear the suit without the jacket and a white shirt and tie.

I'd rather be too dressed up that too casual. Suit trousers and a shirt at the very least. I would stay away from a black shirt as I would personally see it as a more night time thing.

    Tie for an interview.

    Always a tie!

More preferably a suit with the tie. But just trousers, shirt and tie would be fine.

    Dark suit and light shirt.

    * all the above assuming you are going for traditional role. If going for something in journalism or IT for example you might be able to lose the tie.

Good luck with the interview op!

    Thanks for the advice!

Have decided on the black suit, with tie and have found a white shirt.

Phew you've decided to wear a suit and tie! You can be forgiven for over dressing, but they rarely forgiven for under dressing!

    Good luck with the interview!
