Will I get done??

I prob know the answer to this but i'll ask anyway. Was coming around the corner off the M1 towards the Airport. Doin bout 70 and the taxi in front of me jammed on the breaks. I breaked and not knowing why he breaked pulled over to the right lane (which was clear) over a continuous white line. I now know he breaked suddenly as there were 2 gardaí there with a speed gun. I looked in my rear view mirror and the guard with the speed gun had turned to see my maneuver. Could he have used the gun to take my reg as a truck had blocked his view as i was driving towards him??? Will i get points?? A friend in the force years ago said that the guys with the guns can only give points if they pull you over, is this true?? I was stupid i know but would like to see what people say :o

What's the speed limit there?

I suppose you could try claim that you were performing an collision avoidance manoeuvre as the car in front braked a bit hard. A bit tenuous, but you never know.

u have nothing to worry about the speed gun is mearly a infa red light and not a camera in any way so ur in the clear as regards ur maneuver u can cross a continious white line in an emergency so ur in d clear on dat aswell

Unlikely you'll be done for that. Im sure he/she seen more than you think, they usually do. They were there to fill up their monthly speeding quotas, don't think you've too much to fret over!
