Got an email from the organisers of this event

Cahir,Banagher and Kilrush are this years venues

I did the Kilrush one last year and while it was well organised I felt it was very steep at 50e (sprint distance) .... which is why I was suprised to see this on the official blurb

We are delighted to announce we are offering the same great value as the 2010 series with our entry fee remaining at €50 per race

Now maybe its just me but an awful lot has changed in Ireland since last years over priced race so I'm very surprised to see that the fee is still the same.

Anybody know why the Galway leg of the series was ditched??

It was on their website that is was because of traffic issues etc, check their site.

I hope to do Cahir as my 1st open water event. Any feedback on last year would be great.

It wasn't a bad race El D, the swim and bike were fast but it must have been a nightmare for marshals with all the traffic on the route. Coming off the Dyke road with the finish line nearly in sight there wasn't too many waiting for the cops organised crossing point and we were all chancing our arm when we saw a break in traffic, she wasnt impressed to say the least

+1. Can they not forsake t-shirt/bottle etc and make these events cheaper..I certainly don't want an overpriced memento!

I got a text from them last week saying that the Kilrush event was still going ahead 'despite the rumours'.. whatever that means?!

It would seem that they've ran aground with their planning this year.

Are u doing this race this year connundrum? more importantly, did u do it last year? Was it any good , what kind of numbers involved? Good Pb potential, hoping to dip under 1.15

I did take part last year, see last year's thoughts here.

For PB potential I'd be wary of distances as both the run and cycle were out by a bit, that and I'm fairly sure that we all missed a buoy in the swim but no one picked up on it.

I'd love to do it this year but I can't really walk after Galway last weekend :(
