Selling Over 18s DVDs

    Hi

We're just starting to sell DVDs in our clothing store.

Some of them are over 18s. Are the laws really strict on this? Will we get in big trouble if an under 18 buys one of these?

We have a Retail License to sell "video recordings" by the way, which I presume includes DVDs

If you are convicted of breaking your licence, I imagine you will lose it.

Ok, will make sure to ask for ID. I presume Passport/ AGE card are the only acceptable?

Are we obliged to have a sign up saying "you must have ID etc."?

I'd check, but can it hurt?

Gavney, I'm wondering whats the point? Given your clientele and the fact that nearly everyone would prefer to use the internet rather than buy a DVD like this, especially if they then have to queue in front of lots of disapproving grannies and mothers. Do you really believe there is a market for this product amongst your target market? I'd think really hard about is the profit derived from the use of that shelf space worth potentially upsetting your existing market base.
