Solicitor recommendations for injury claim?

Hi all. Just wondering has anyone had a positive experience dealing with a firm or individual with regards to an injury claim? I am overwhelmed with anonymous "independent advice" websites but would really appreciate a nudge in the direction of a solicitor with good experience in this area so as to try and avoid the nasty relationship that people seem to develop with their solicitor in these cases if ratemysolicitor is to be believed. Thanks for your help.

Most practices deal with personal injury claims. Pick a solicitor near where you live or work as there will be numerous consultations and discussions as case proceeds.

    Good luck

If I am not mistaken you dont need a solicitor to go through PIAB.

InjuriesBoard.ie is the new name for PIAB. InjuriesBoard.ie is the independent government body which assesses the amount of compensation due to a person who has suffered a personal injury.

You can make an application directly to InjuriesBoard.ie by phone to the Service Centre on LoCall 1890 829121 (8am - 8pm Monday to Friday) or via our website http://www.injuriesboard.ie.

It might be useful to have a look at the How to Make a Claim Section http://www.injuriesboard.ie/eng/Making_a_Claim/ and the FAQ Section http://www.injuriesboard.ie/eng/FAQ/

    I hope this helps.

I would not do that. The guards tend to know solicito:mad:rs who operate in the criminal. courts. A lot of the better personal injury solicitors do no criminal work.

I would tend to differ with you there on that but thats your opinion but as a member of the rescue services i tend to work with alot of gaurds in my time and unfortunally i was involved in a r.t.a last year and ask one of these officers i know do they know of one thats good in all areas as there is a criminal aspect in relation to my case also and in fairness the gaurds to go into court when it comes to r.t.a accidents so they would know this ;) and for the OP i would get one as it would be for your best interest the would be able to give you the advice you need hope again you are recovering well and good look in the future.

In Dublin a lot of solicitors do no criminal work. A lot of the solicitors who do criminal work do little or no personal injury.

Before you go by rateyoursolicitor.com sit down and read the comments thoroughly, and then ask yourself the following question :-

'would I be happy to sit down for a pint/coffee and a chat with the person who appears to have written this, knowing nothing about them except what appears from the post'.

If yes, fire away and make judgments accordingly.

If you have absolutely no way to get a personal recommendation which you can trust for a solicitor go to a couple of local offices, and like with anything else, make a decision based on how you are treated, your impression of their professionalism etc. etc.

Have a frank discussion about fees - there should be no embarrassment about this or unwillingness to talk or agree what basis you will be charged on- and your expectations as to outcome including how long the case will take. Speak to at least two firms so you can drawn comparisons.

Basically give yourself the ability to make your own decision.

Make sure you dont get a solicitor who is the pocket of the insurance company. Where down south are you?

Use one of the main plaintiff solicitors. Maguire Maclafferty, Paul Tracey have the polish market and are never bullied by the insurance companies.

    Or HJ Ward......
