I stand to be corrected but I think they are not legal to use on a shotgun.

Dunno, never heard that. I bought it off a dealer here so don't think they would be for sale if illegal.

Open to correction though . . .

They are legal...
...so long as you have a restricted licence for your shotgun.
If you don't, you shouldn't have possession of the kit as it's trouble in the making for you.
If you do, no worries, have fun.
