    Hi Lads,

    I was holding onto a 106 for the younger brother to drive around when he learned how to drive, but that's as likely as Cowen getting a second term I reckon :D

    So it's a 98 red 106 1.2 maybe 100K on it, no tax or nct.

    Parked up for the last 12 months, I went out and started it every month, started on the button and idled away nicely. One of the problems is I never actually drove it about so the handbrake is jammed on.

    The drivers door opener is locking open too (no matter how much WD40 I use) and the speakers aren't working, I tried installing a lidl bluetooth cd player and no joy.

    Just wondering what people think the going rate for this is.

    Also any tips for unlocking the handbrake, might have to get the mechanic to have a look at the door or something?

    Not sure about the radio.

    Thanks for your help

    //Gary

    Are cars that cheap nowadays??

    it usually is, take it all apart and lube in the right places, but even if u fixed that and get an NCT, 500 tops for that..

    The little Peugeot and Saxo are well known for the lining to brake away from the shoes, jamming the drum. So not a straightforward fix, also it means the car needs to be flatbedded away, or towed with the arse in the air. No test drive is possible so essentially it is worth quite close to sfa. Even with a full test in decent condition they don't go for close to a grand when they are as old as yours.

    Right, B@lls so will get one of the lads in the garage over to have a look at the shoe lining, sus it out more then.

    It might not be the lining issue but it happens lots of them.

    Based in Cork yeah? I saw a 106 with "moderate crash damage" in the pink pages last week or the week before for 400! I'd say pick up a copy today or rifle through one at the shop. Always a steady flow of saxos and 106s printed.

    That's what I mean, you'd get a good idea of how much they are going for in the area.
