    So the government not only removed the tax emption for trade union subscriptions but also for subscriptions to professional bodies.

    I was told that that my subscription would be taxed at between 42 to 48% and this would come out of my next pay cheque.

    Anybody any ideas there any way around this from an employment law point of view?

    I think contrat says "we agree to pay membership" no mention of tax etc?
