    Hey OP,

What in particular do you need help with? If you can be more specific I'm sure people can help :)

It does seem to be a bit of an never ending pit swallowing up my money. Very hard to know if it actually has any results for us as people are unlikely to actually place their order directly from clicking the ad and would more likely come back to place the order days/ weeks/ months later. Just need to keep the name appearing in the searches though.

What are you selling? What keywords are you bidding on?

I went from about 300/month to 30/month and am getting more turnover & profit since I made changes.

    Hi Chet Zar,
On a different note, How did you get so many facebook friends?:p was it organic or do you have any tips? Im finding it really hard to get anyone to click the like button on the bottom of the homepage. Im thinking its either a beacuse the site is crap or b its in the wrong place.

What we did was got everyone in the company to become a fan of the company page and asked them to ask their friends too. We included the facebook link on all our emarketing campaigns and also on our print material. that seemed to work for us. Best of luck with it.

Just started the Facebook page ;) You might do me a favour and become a fan if you're interested!

Re AdWords, relevance is key. Relevance of your keywords to ad text and to landing pages, etc. Also make sure you have Analytics set up as it provides invaluable insights.

Is your site now redirecting to a YouTube video?!

Facebook ads are actually a good option to consider too for securing new likes for your page. Used them before and while the costs can add up quite quickly it does bring results in terms of attracting new fans quite quickly. I went from having around a dozen fans to over a hundred within a matter of a week or so.

    I see.

And of those "fans", how many purchased from you/interacted with you/do something of value for your business? How do you track return on investment on doing that?

It's a done thing in companies nationwide, I just don't know if I "like" it or not. (excuse the pun)

I agree, Facebook fans are fast becoming the modern day equivalent of the early day web site counter. The only serve for the purpose of vanity for the majority of businesses.

You're missing the point. It's about return on investment.

In my case, it was as much about generating awareness and trying out the medium as it was about achieving engagement and contributing value. I wasn't running a business - it was purely a personal project which turned out well and continues to do well.

As regards tracking ROI, there are different ways and means. In terms of purely tracking ROI in the sense of 'I have this many Facebook fans and this is how many of them visited my site/purchased from my site', etc, you can do this through using tools like Google Analytics, Facebook Insights and other tools. Which are all free, incidentally!

What's not to like, out of interest? It's the done thing because companies and businesses are increasingly realising the benefit of the social web and recognising that they can't afford not to be there. Also those that may have been wary or afraid of it seem to be coming into the fold.

    Ok so for awareness then.

I know about the benefits of social media, it's the fastest growing segment in demand at present in Ireland.

I'd like to see a working example of what you just said there regarding "I have this many facebook fans and this is how many purchased from my site" - i think you'll have trouble working that out.

I see your points - i just still don't know if i like buying fans for a page...

I believe in the integrated and natural approach personally.

I have 1300 fans on my Page. 50% SME businesses. I would estimate 1% have actually used my site to offer their products or services.

Why I don't know. But I have had feedback from some people that they don't like using a site which is free as they think it must have some sort of hidden catch. BUT it doesn't.
