when you bring in a motor from the UK now and pay the VRT etc what is it taxed as? The old system going by engine size? or the new system going by C02 emissions.

I'm thinking of bringing in a Subaru Forester but if its taxed by Co2 rather than as a 2.0 litre the tax would be very high. I've heard mixed reports so does anyone know for definite what way its going now as i haven't brought a car in in a few years

    thanks

The exact same as if it was registered here first. Before June 2008 and its the old cc based system after June 2008 its the new emissions based system.

If the car was 1st registered Jan 2008 to Jun 2008 - you can choose the cheaper of either system.
