Hi there. Does anyone know of a site with a somewhat reliable "long term" snow forecast? I'm particularly interested in getting an idea of what it should be like in the Alps towards the end of Febuary.

    Cheers.

Unfortunately there is nothing or no one that can reliably predict the weather that far into the future!

Your best bet is to check out the historical snow records for the resort you are going to. This site is a good source of snow history and forecasts.

Max forecast you will get is approx 5 days but in high altitude resorts it will be even less.

As above historical snow is quite good but also you have weather patterns like el Nino etc that will effect conditions form year to year.

Thanks. I had thought as much but since this winter has been such an exceptional one pretty much across Europe I wasn't sure that the historical snow records would be very telling. They'd only give a vague indication which is all that I could expect I guess.

www.skiclub.co.uk are usually pretty good and give an over view twice a week.www.j2ski.com can e-mail you every week about your favourite resort and they do give a 7 day forecast but it can be hit and miss.

Another site worth a look is www.snow-forecast.com but as with the others it only provides a short term forecast. If you subscribe you can get a more detailled long(ger) term forecast too

Yeah very near Kristiansand, I actually work in Kristiansand.

We had quite a bit of snow, but none recently. A couple of warm and cold spells have turned it into solid ice. I hope this isn't it for the rest of winter !
Up near Oslo is generally colder so conditions may be better up there. I wouldnt say its very cold though, between 0 and -10.
