Most I ever spent on a tank of diesel. I think it was at 138/litre in Nutgrove.

Hits home when it goes over the tonne mark.

Christ, what do you drive? Tank capacity? I thought I had it bad hitting €82 filling the GTI.

You can always fill half of the tank, makes it half cheaperr :D

Its 122€ to fill our petrol bus ... 84l tank and 23-25 mpg average :D

I'm sure my E34 520i took the guts of €100 to fill.

My last fill went over €60 for the first time since I've started driving. When the euro came in, I filled my car at the time for €35 (fiat punto).

80 litre tank OP, that's pretty savage.

when i first bought my 4.4 X5 i decided to treat myself on pick up day and fill the tank, i chickened out at 100e, i had no more money with me and it was still going.

that was nearly 3 years ago, so god knows how much it would cost today

You may - top stuff there Matt. I completely missed that thread.

I looked into all this before and chickened out. Also, a new IP for my bus runs at 6,000 if it goes mammories up.

Keep up the good work :)

Erm, why do people fill the tank up to the top? Its madness, especially a 80L tank! if you only filled up half way you would save logging around 40kgs of dead weight! Dead weight costs more petrol to move to essentially for every litre over what you need on the journey its costing you more than the 1.49 to use.
I only ever put e20 in at a time and fill up as I need to. Plus If you find it cheaper at the next station happy days. Although I do understand its practicle with me living in dublin and petrol everywhere, maybe in the country its not as simple.

I wouldn't get to the next filling station on 20 squids ;)

Last fill was €113. 82
83 Litres @ €1.369 a litre. (Bet ya someone does the numbers to see if I can add :D).

Its an E53 with a whopping 93 Litre tank so if I waited a while I could have squeezed another 10 Litres or €11 in.

    The good old days!

I used to spend between €34-€40 on filling up my punto. Then I changed to €20 a go when it got expensive so it seemed like I was spending less money!

Found it at 142.9c/l yesterday and filled my Saab 93 up. Cost about €70

Spent €95 the other day filling mine..

Red light was on when I pulled into the forecourt so I filled her up and prayed it last me for a few weeks.. some hope :pac:

Now I pay with my laser card as handing over 2 x €50 notes and only getting a €5 back brings a tear to my eye.. :D

I had a mild heart attack when the fill-up cost me €20.08 this morning. Never seen it go above €20 before.

    €0.08c per km

    (bike before anyone asks 5.6l/100k)

Better tell the other half then that I can't be giving her lifts anywhere then :D

50 litre tank (petrol) took about 70 quid to fill. Not to bad.

Miss those cheap days on the bike €15 to fill 15L tank used to get 65mpg around Dublin and 75mpg on trips down the country. Even caning it I'd get 70mpg and once got 80 on a very wet and windy night when I took it very handy. On the other hand a set of tires cost €350 and I wouldn't get much more than 6000km out of the back one and the bike had to be serviced twice a year.

My car now is much cheaper to run though despite the worse mpg and extra motor tax. For the time savings in Dublin traffic though the bike was well worth it.

20 euro would get me to work and maybe back that evening :D would get really old stopping twice a day for petrol

Petrol weighs approx 730g a litre, its not the same as water.

If you have a large 85 litre tank like meself, chances are its a gas guzzler with a large enough engine. Lugging around an extra 29.2kg (half tank) will make 0.0000001% difference to fuel consumption to most cars, let alone a large engined one. You're much better off changing your driving style to save fuel, the simplest one being examining the traffic ahead and adjusting your speed accordingly to minimise braking.

Also, If I were to fill up with €20 a time, it would mean going to fill up 6 times instead of once, how much more does that cost?

Also, MPG figures are quoted with a driver and a full tank of fuel, you'll do well to get close to most of them, even with a half tank.
    ;)
