Why is meteors website worse than fort knox to get in to?
Every time you change page you need to re-enter your password.
It has more security than my banking website. ridiculous really

If my phone had only 1 cent credit in it it would have more than my bank account

meteor has always been the winner for me, always first with deals and cheaper prices. never had a problem. wonder what the new tesco one is like though, i can imagine them having quite competitive deals.

That's what i can't understand. I can only talk about Vodafone, because that's who i'm with - but it constantly amazes me how, for a multi billion euro company, their website is so terrible.

I'm a novice at Windows Publisher (think that's the program) but i reckon with enough time, i could design a better website than it.*

    *slight exaggeration possibly

Dont mind the meteor service. But hate the website. Is always down and at stupid hours too. Like you could forgive it for being slow to access say around lunch time when ok, alot of users trying to log in. But not at 3.15pm some random tuesday.

Thats why I always make sure to to top up by 20 and get the monthly texts :)

it really is amazing how meteor (who provide internet dongles) can have such a bad site. i've been trying for an hour now to get on to it and it's telling my password is wrong. i know its not

This happens to me regularly. I enter my password and the next page has that code thing to enter, saying I put in the wrong password.

Then I just reload the page and it logs in without entering the password again.

making a good website would cost them a drop in the ocean, of what, the eamount they make in a day? Odd as it is integral to their business. Companies are just lucky that no one company is standing well above the rest

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 559 ✭✭✭Ghost Estate

Feck it the Ohtue website has given me more problems than any of the others.

That big **** off of a blue blob with options in the middle of the screen fails to load for me half the time (on different computers). I'd nearly rather pay the 13c or whatever rip off amount they charge for a text rather than deal with that

Meteor's is alright exept the odd time even though you enter the right login details it decides to send you back to the login page

I've used them all quite recently and I can honestly say meteor has been the least trouble and easiest to use.

Never had the issue with having to log in again and again. I go directly to https://www.mymeteor.ie and dont bother with the main site so maybe thats why.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,130 ✭✭✭Azureus

I've never really had an issue with that website and I use it fairly regularly..
Only thing would be the multiple logins with the code verification but sure takes all of two seconds. Otherwise its smooth running for me anyway.

Edit: Actually talk bout annoying, give the site a good review then the next day it takes me bout an hour to login and ages for each page to load even thought ive a fast work connection!! I take back the above comments, that site is headwrecking!!

The Meteor website only works well if you're within a 50km range of one of their servers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,995 ✭✭✭Sofiztikated

I've been with Meteor over a year now, and I've never had a problem using the Meteor site.

Like Ghost Estate said, I log directly into www.mymeteor.ie, and never had a problem, except for occasional time out where i've logged in, and left it for ages without doing anything.

Was on o2 before that, and I hated using it.

I've been with Meteor over a year now, and I've never had a problem using the Meteor site.

I used to be on Meteor & I thought their website was fine. It was their coverage & prices that I had a problem with.

Changed to Tesco a while back - a lot cheaper & miles better coverage - the only trade off being that their website is truly awful.

But I can put up with that as I no longer have to walk around the house looking for a signal.

I've contacted Meteor a few times over the course of the last year or so (mostly about their site, ranging from:
    - can you explain why it doesn't work properly?
    - why do you use java?
    - I don't understand why a company your size doesn't have a website that works properly?
    - why don't you do us all a favour and take your programmers out to the carpark and shoot them?
    - why does it still not work properly?
    - how come all your best deals are for prepay and new customers?
    - why the **** does it still not work properly!?
    - why am I still a customer of yours?
    - don't you think it's convenient your site usually stops working for me when I'm near the end of my 200 free texts a month and would like to use free webtexts instead of paying for the ones from my phone?
    - why Meteor why why whhhhhyyyyy do you have to be so goddam Irish about the way you do business. Paying customers are a privilege not a right you bunch of cowboy cockbags!

I wrote to them last week because I hadn't been able to log in for a few days. I explained that I'm in the market for a new smartphone, which means a new smartplan, which means a new 12month contract, which means over €600 from me to them. I asked them could they provide an incentive for me to stay as a customer given that their website sucks more balls than a bowling alley and their rewards are all geared towards prepay and new customers with bill pay getting the rawest deal of the lot (i.e. the "you're stuck in a contract, **** yoooouuu!!" attitude). I asked them a lot more than that, some innocuous, some loaded with barely restrained fury and contempt, all delivered in a courteous manner.

The answer? A stock email telling me the website was working. They didn't even change the opener from "Dear Customer" to "Dear David". They didn't address ANYTHING else I said. Oh, and the best part? The website still wasn't working.

The result?: Meteor can go and ****e, I'm changing provider and giving someone else my government-endangered money.

People seem to like o2 yes?

    Vodafone works.

I would switch from Meteor in a heartbeat but I top up with 20 quid and get unlimited texts, i then have teh 20 quid to make the odd phonecall and the data charges mean i never have to top up more than once a month really and no other provider can beat that even all bill pay.

The website is poo though i emailed them about their phonebook thing having a recently used numbers for quick access they said thanks and that was it

I've been to Fort Knox. There's a guided tour available for 10 dollars. It's actually not that hard to get into at all.

One of the staff there told me they all wish people would stop using it as an example of impenetrability as it's not the image they wish to put forward.

Meteor's website is total garbage. Plus they are the only company that doesn't allow you to send international webtexts.

O2 do the exact same deal. I was on the same plan with meteor but found they were actually charging for the texts I was sending sometimes, needless to say their customer service was absolute cack. O2 have been great so far, the o2 treat thing is good and you get priority tickets for gigs.

If you're looking for the cheapest mobile provider, just go here, enter your usage details & it'll give you a breakdown comparison of what it would cost you with each operator:

    http://callcosts.ie/mobile_phones/Mobile_Calculator.123.LE.asp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,728 ✭✭✭dilallio

My experience with O2 is that they only send out priority notification for gigs which are not likely to sell out.

I've also had issues with their website - certain pages taking ages to load but it was better than Vodafone's site. I have no experience with Meteor.

    It's a terrible site.

The authenticaton makes it incovenient to use your web-texts with with a texting app.

I took a look and it seems they are doing some odd form of session management & redirects in their web app.

For those of you who log in to their site (successfully) and find yourself redirected back to a login screen, try hitting page refresh at that point, instead of attempting to login again. Chances are you are already authenticated but they are doing some silly redirect after login which makes it look like you are not getting inside.

Never had a problem with the Meteor website the only thing that had annoyed me is when you're inactive for 20-30mins and you have to log in again but it's not a big deal.
