Its a big ask I know, but what can I expect to get for it? off road due to rear impact (fairly minor) so engine should be fine, only about 90k on it, and for all I know it might be possible to put it back on the road. It looks a right state at the moment but it was a great little car while it was driven by me and other members of my family. Surely its worth more than scrap metal?

Well the going rate at the moment for scrap metal is €120 per ton.

Try and aim for something over that.

A car is not all metal though. :)

Petrol or diesel? A low-mileage diesel engine should have a good value far above the scrap value (90k on a small diesel is nothing, if it's been looked after).

Was that the Mk3? they were a bloody great car, I went to look at a diesel one years ago but the insurance was three times the price of the car.

They were the Mark 4. We had one at home, they had a great little engine altogether. Our one had well over 100k miles done y the time it was written off and it never ever burned a drop of oil and the engine was as clean as a whistle til the end. Great little cars, old school Japanese relability. Shame the marque didn't develop cars to a more European taste like Kia et al have done.

Maybe €200? If it's got damage that needs fixing then considering that you can pick up cars in relatively decent nick, with some level of NCT cover for €5-600 these days you probably won't get much more.

Do you know how much it will cost to fix up at all?

Find out whatever price one with an NCT and running order is in, cut that price in 3 and that's your starting price. With no NCT, no tax and requiring repair after an impact a car of that age is virtually worthless as a running car.
