Was reading a news piece there on that poor lady who went missing after getting a taxi to Howth and the police said that after reviewing her recent internet activity they were not perusing certain avenues. I assume that meant she was searching suicide etc, given the circumstances.

Do you worry about things like your internetz history? Basically every thing is recorded somewhere. I don't generally but there would be the odd thing on 4chann I clicked on that I'd have to spin a yarn about!

Worry about the internetz you visited or posted on in the past? 36 votes

It was more than likely just her local search history on her laptop or pc they went through. They would need to go through tonnes of legal paperwork to gain access to the data held by her ISP.

Don't be too sure. I recently found a post I made to a newsgroup 15 years ago, is still visible on the web, and apparently, Google own it. I need to swear an affidavit, lean over and lick my own arse-hole to get it deleted.

Thank god I didn't have a digital camera!

I suppose it's something to keep in mind alright. It kinda reminds me of the night I mentioned to my husband, when he was having severe chest pains, that there was no fu**ing way I was having a doctor come to the house with all the dirty clothes on the floor and 2 day old breakfast bowls sitting out. In between helping him breathe I tried to tidy up a bit.

But I'm not totally callous, there was a happy ending. My mam helped me get the whole house clean the next day. lol!

Plus they normally outsource most of this work.

Shouldn't really be posting on Boards if you are that concerned with posting history!

Yep, we have pseudonyms but it wouldn't be that hard to find out the details.

I do understand the concerns but some take it very far.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

How does the act of disclosing a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) person's true sexual orientation have anything to do with using your name as your boards name? :) Or did they release your name at the same time?

Because being "outed" has nothing to do with anything of a sexual nature.

Nope, I don't worry about it at all. Anything I've ever written on the internet - be it here, in my blog, on Facebook etc., I stand by now and always will. Okay, I might look back at stuff from a couple of years ago and cringe, but that's perfectly natural. As for my browsing history, nothing to crazy there and I do tend to clear it every so often anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 767 ✭✭✭HxGH

I have to say I'm very cautious with everything I do/write online.

Another reason why I'm not worried - people are doing much worse/horrible horrible things on the internet.

How would people find out who you are on d'interweb? People keep saying "OOOOOoooooooohhhhhhhhhhh its not as anonymous as you think" - Go on then, tell us how or why not!
